I love Cologne because it is so colourful.
My name is Silvia and I’m originally from a small town close to the Dutch border – somewhere between Düsseldorf (closest rival of Cologne!) and Venlo (NL). I moved to Cologne for my studies in history of art and Scandinavian culture and language here at the University of Cologne in 2014. So feel free to speak Swedish with me, but don’t expect me to speak it fluently. It’s still a long way to go!
So why is this art girl giving walking tours through Cologne? That’s actually an easy question. I’m kind of used to guide my friends through the countless museums in an around Cologne and was already working as a guide for the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. By giving walking tours I am able to combine my enthusiasm for the city and my natural habit of explaining art and architecture. You wouldn’t expect it but for me Cologne is somewhat similar to a museum (a pretty large museum however).
And to be honest I just fell in love with this diverse city and its citizens full of joy. So be prepared to get converted to a Cologne lover.
